Patricia Ramírez González

1985 - 2024

Patricia Ramírez González, also known as 'Paty Bunbury,' was shot and killed October 30, 2024, in the center of Colima City.

According to information from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) of Colima, the incident occurred around 2:00 PM at the food business she owned, located at the intersection of Gabino Barreda and Gómez Farías streets in La Atrevida neighborhood.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Ramírez González was in her establishment when the attacker entered, fired multiple shots at her, and fled.

Bystanders immediately alerted authorities, and state Police officers were the first responders, finding her critically wounded. Although paramedics were called to the scene, it was impossible to save her life, and she died on site.

For the past decade, Paty Bunbury had been a contributor to the newspaper Hechos Pensamiento En Acción in the Entertainment section and other media outlets in Colima. She was also an active member of the organization Compañeros Periodistas de Colima A.C. (COPECO), which condemned the murder and attributed it to the ongoing violence in Colima due to the lack of an effective security strategy.

Personnel from the State Attorney General's Office arrived at the crime scene to begin collecting evidence for analysis and to open the corresponding investigation file.
